Phnom Penh, Cambodia,
Oct 26th to 27th 2019
President of ASCM
College of Veterinary Medicine
Seoul National University, Korea
Before I bring my greetings to the conference, I would like to show my highest appreciation to Prof. Tokuma Yanai who has contributed to the development of this society by his dedication on the board.
I am appointed the President of ASCM in October 2018 and organized a new board which includes two vice presidents, one secretary general, and treasurer and eight diploma-holding board members. With these members, we would like to conduct an efficient and organized management for the activities of ASCM. As the WDA-AP has just established in 2019, ASCM will collaborate with WDA-AP in some way.
As this is the first time we are holding our annual meeting in Cambodia, I thank Dean Prof. Dr. Kang Kroesna for hosting us. This meeting will be an excellent opportunity to initiate the collaboration between ASCM and FVM-RUA and contribute to the development of veterinary science in Cambodia.

Welcome to Phnom Penh!
It is our great pleasure to host the 12th annual meeting of the Asian Society of Conservation Medicine (ASCM) in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
Veterinary medicine in Cambodia is still in the cradle stage, and we are making efforts to develop it with international collaboration. Our Faculty of Veterinary Medicine established in December 2012. The 6 (4+2) year program of Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree complies with standards set by OIE Day 1 Competencies and OIE Core Curriculum Guideline has been starting to implement by the academic year 2015-2016. This is the first program offered in Cambodia, while other higher education institutions offer only one curriculum for a four-year program (BSc.) for animal production and health or animal science and veterinary medicine. With this regard, faculty is facing many challenges in term of human resources and facilities. Conservation medicine will be our field of challenge among others.
This annual meeting will be an excellent opportunity for us to initiate collaboration among ASCM members. Our collaboration will contribute to the building of our faculties and the development of veterinary science in this country.
We hope all the participants will enjoy experiencing our traditional Khmer culture and enjoy our food and drinks.
